We Can Make Your Teen’s Smile Beautiful Again!
A lot of changes happen during the teenage years, including dental changes that can cause visible alterations to the smile. Most kids lose all of their deciduous (baby) teeth and gain most of their permanent teeth by the time they reach 13 years old. It is during this time, while the teeth are still developing and shifting into their final positions, that braces are ideal. For this reason and others, we recommend that you bring your child in for an orthodontist appointment during their adolescent years.
Adolescent Treatment Options
We offer a variety of adolescent treatment options, and one of our experienced orthodontists will be happy to help you choose the type of treatment that will work best for your teen. Options include:
Metal braces: These are the most common type of braces for adolescents and are recognizable by metal brackets placed on the surface of each tooth. Sturdy, flexible wires are threaded through the brackets and tightened in order to gently straighten teeth over time. Teens can have some fun with their metal braces by choosing colored elastic ties to put on the brackets as desired.
Clear Braces: Teenagers who prefer to straighten their teeth in a more discreet manner may prefer clear braces, which are made with clear ceramic or composite brackets rather than metal brackets.
Invisalign® Teen Aligners: Completely clear Invisalign® aligners are becoming more popular among teenagers because they are nearly impossible to see. Rather than straightening teeth with a series of brackets and wires, clear aligners are smooth, plastic trays that are molded to the teeth. They are also removable and make it easy to floss and brush during treatment.
We will work with you to help you choose the best treatment option for your teen, based on their needs, preferences, and your budgetary restraints.
