Invisalign Questions

Invisalign is one of our most popular orthodontic treatments for both teens and adults. While many people have heard of Invisalign, we receive several questions from interested patients. In order to keep you informed about the treatments offered by your orthodontists in Erie and Corry, we have assembled a few of our most frequently asked questions.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to bring teeth into proper alignment. As certified Invisalign providers, our orthodontists will issue customized aligners for your teeth, which will gradually shift your teeth into a straighter, healthier smile as you progress between aligners.

How Often Do I Need To Wear Invisalign Aligners?

In order for Invisalign to work as it’s designed, you need to wear the aligners for up to 22 hours each day. You should only remove them when eating and drinking, and when brushing and flossing. Wearing your Invisalign aligners for less than the amount of time specified by your orthodontist may prolong orthodontic treatment duration.

Do I Have To Watch What I Eat If I’m Wearing Invisalign?

No! Unlike traditional braces, where there are certain foods to avoid, Invisalign has no food restrictions. Instead, you simply take the aligners out when eating. For the entire time you’re being treated with Invisalign, you’re free to enjoy all your favorite foods.

Will My Speech Be Affected By Wearing Aligners?

As with all orthodontic appliances, your speech may be temporarily affected as you adjust. Within a short amount of time, your teeth should return to normal as you wear your aligners consistently.

Is Invisalign Uncomfortable?

You can expect to feel some minor pressure when wearing Invisalign, just as you would if you were wearing regular braces. This pressure is an indicator that the aligners are moving your teeth just as they should be. You can treat discomfort with

How Long Does The Invisalign Process Take?

Treatment time varies from one patient to the next, depending upon each patient’s orthodontic needs. However, most patients complete treatment within 6 to 18 months. Treatment time can be prolonged, however, if patients do not wear their aligners as prescribed.
