What Life With Invisalign Is Like

If you’re considering Invisalign, you may have a lot of questions about how your life will change during your treatment. Here’s a list of the answers to the most common questions we get, here at Doleski & Wolford Orthodontics, about the Invisalign lifestyle.

Will Invisalign Be Noticeable To Other People?

Invisalign is designed to be almost completely invisible. They’re the perfect option for anyone that wants a more subtle aesthetic than your traditional metal braces. It might even be difficult for others to notice that you’re wearing them, which is the ideal solution if you are looking for a discreet treatment.

Do I Always Have To Wear The Aligners?

You don’t! In fact, one of the best benefits of Invisalign is that you can remove them whenever you’re eating or brushing your teeth. You are also free to take them off during special events, such as job interviews or sports practices. However, to adhere to best practice, it is advised to keep them on for 20 to 22 hours a day so that you can receive your results faster.

How Much Does Invisalign Hurt?

Invisalign is designed to gently push against your teeth throughout your treatment so that your teeth can maintain a straighter positioning. You will most likely feel a degree of discomfort in the first couple of days with your new aligners, but the slight pressure will become more normal with time. It will be worth it when you achieve that beautiful smile!

What Am I Allowed To Eat Any Food?

Anything you want! Like mentioned, Invisalign is removable, so you are free to eat anything you want as long as you remove your aligners before you eat. On the other hand, with braces, you’re restricted to a shorter list of foods that you can eat as many types of foods can get stuck in your braces or even damage them.

Will I Speak Differently?

When you first wear your aligners you will need a few days for your tongue to get accustomed to having Invisalign in your mouth. You may have a slight lisp while your mouth is adjusting to Invisalign. However, as you develop more comfort with the aligners, the lisp will disappear.
